Yes In God’s Backyard!

BIG WIN FOR YIGBY!!!

Exciting update!!! Here is what Senator Scott tweeted at 7:06 PM on Tuesday, May 30th:

YIGBY PASSES THE SENATE!!!

Thank you, colleagues, for passing our legislation to allow faith institutions & nonprofit colleges to build affordable housing on their land.

This bill will open up tens of thousands of acres of land for affordable housing. It’s a game-changer.

The bill passed with a strong showing:  33-2-5. This is a result of a team effort by people across sectors. Multiple individual meetings with Senators as well as the many organizations across the state who sent in letters of support. San Mateo County was one of the most represented counties, with 40 nonprofits and faith-based organizations expressing their support for YIGBY. THANK YOU! We did it together.

Now on to the Assembly–stay tuned!

✧Support New Funding for Affordable Homes✧

We need YOUR support for a $10-20 billion nine-county Bay Area
affordable housing bond!

Many of our cities address their housing needs individually, usually with limited to no staff and financial resources. A regional bond's success is important because it takes a more collaborative approach and provides access to funds and resources -- it helps create a level playing field among all 101 cities and 9 counties in the Bay Area.

For San Mateo County, the housing bond could generate $1 billion dollars to help ensure the protection of at-risk renters and for the creation and preservation of affordable homes.

This won’t happen without your support. Click here to learn more AND to endorse today!
