Housing Trust Opens Request for Information for Apple Affordable Housing Fund

Apple announced a comprehensive $2.5 billion plan in November 2019 to help address the housing availability and affordability crisis in California.

The Apple Affordable Housing Fund is now open for responses to the 2021 Request for Information (RFI). This Fund intends to make loans to qualified developers to help accelerate affordable housing throughout the Bay Area.

Housing Trust is requesting information from developers for the Fund, to unstick developments that will be “shovel ready” on or before June 30, 2022. We are seeking projects that are all but ready to proceed, yet need unique and flexible capital to allow the project to move to the construction phase.

Need Help With Rent or Utilities?

California Rent Relief is here! 📢 Eligible Renters can apply for assistance with unpaid rent and utilities. We must build toward an equitable recovery! According to a Bay Area Equity Atlas analysis, San Mateo County has an estimated 10,945 households experiencing forms of renter debt. Please share this information with those severely impacted by COVID19.

California landlords who have one or more eligible renters can apply to get reimbursed for 80% of each eligible renter’s unpaid rent between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021, if they agree to waive the remaining 20% of unpaid rent for that specific time period. Undocumented tenants are eligible.

Meet Our Newest Intern: Rohin Ghosh

Hi! My name is Rohin Ghosh and I am a high school senior and activist from Palo Alto. Housing is important to me because I believe it is the biggest factor in improving the lives of everybody in our communities, but especially our most vulnerable community members. I’ve seen so many friends have to move out of the Bay Area because they lack access to an affordable place to live here. Building affordable homes near jobs and transit is especially important for young people like me who are worried about where we will be able to afford to live and are concerned about the effect of the car-centric lifestyle on our planet. I am excited to be a part of HLC’s work to bring affordable housing options to everyone in our communities on the Peninsula.
