Sign Today to Support Housing in Millbrae

In an attempt to stop the Homekey proposal in the City of Millbrae, a slim majority of leaders on the City Council have decided to spend taxpayer money on an expensive lawsuit based on a racist 73-year-old law in Article 34 of California’s constitution.

Housing Leadership Council calls on Mayor Anders Fung and the Millbrae City Council to withdraw the Article 34 lawsuit and to allow the transformation of the La Quinta Inn into permanent supportive homes.

If you believe Millbrae should do its part to contribute to solutions and use public tax dollars to support residents instead of vilifying them, you now have the opportunity to let Mayor Fung know by clicking below to sign our petition.

Bay Area Housing Finance Authority $10-$20 Billion Regional Affordable Housing Bond - San Mateo County Info Session

As you probably already know, most communities in the Peninsula, including the County, work to solve the housing challenges on their own, usually with limited staff and money to deal with these issues. You can help change it.

This year, HLC and our Bay Area partners will campaign for a nine-county, regional $10 -20 billion affordable housing bond measure. A region-wide approach encourages coordination between all of our 101 cities and nine counties and opens up new sources of funding and resources that were previously not accessible. For San Mateo County, the bond will produce $1 billion for creating and preserving affordable homes!

You can help by first joining your neighbors for a digital information session on January 18 from 6 - 7 pm!

Once you RSVP, you’ll be provided with the needed Zoom information. For any questions, please email kchan@hlcsmc.org!

📋Housing Elements Review📋

Entering the new year, six cities across San Mateo County have certified housing elements: Redwood City, Brisbane, Colma, Hillsborough, South San Francisco, and Menlo Park. That means 14 cities and the County continue to develop policies to demonstrate they have the capacity for new homes. HLC looks forward to working with communities across San Mateo to finalize the development of their housing elements and begin policy implementation.
