đź“‹Housing Elements Reviewđź“‹

Concerned about housing? Do you live or work in San Mateo? Join our Housing Element Campaign, a coordinated effort to support new funding, land, development standards, and tenant protections for San Mateo County’s most vulnerable residents. We are bringing together organizations across the county to support pro-housing, pro-tenant policies, with current campaign leads Kalisha Webster of Housing Choices, Jordan Grimes of Greenbelt Alliance, and our very own Jeremy Levine. We are looking for co-leads!

If you are interested in learning more about our Housing Element Campaign, email our Policy Manager Jeremy Levine at jlevine@hlcsmc.org

Policy Updates

✧Redwood City Transit District✧

HLC would like to use this opportunity to thank our leaders on the Redwood City City Council for their votes on Monday night to support the Subsequent Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) and changes to the Downtown Precise Plan; allowing for the creation of a transit district downtown!

This will now allow for the construction of up to 1,100 homes (343 affordable)  - of which, have the potential to contribute to a much more vibrant downtown, create improved transit connections, and provide the critically needed homes to the city. Stay tuned for more information on how you can get involved in the next phase!

✧Redwood City Transit District✧

On November 14, the Redwood City City Council approved the Harbor View proposal, and along with it, the $65M community benefits package supporting housing, transportation, and children and youth.

Harbor View partnered with St. Francis Center to bring 64 Extremely Low Income homes, complete with critical wraparound services for Redwood City's most vulnerable community members, which include unhoused individuals, low income seniors, and individuals struggling with mental health and addiction. That is 64 of your neighbors, and their families, safely housed.

To learn more about the housing and services included in the proposal, please visit harborviewredwoodcity.com
