Affordable Housing Wins
Senior Homes Move Forward in Burlingame
In the September meeting, the Peninsula Health Care District (PHCD) Board voted unanimously to support 477 senior homes; where 182 are slated to be affordable. This proposal provides around 182 of our most vulnerable senior community members the ability to choose a place to live that meets their physical, cognitive and social needs; and it ensures that they will have a safe and stable place to call home.
A new 36-unit apartment building is being planned for South San Francisco, with rents to be affordable for low-income residents and 18 units to be reserved for people with developmental disabilities.
“This is just a win-win project for South San Francisco and for our residents,” said Vice Mayor Mark Nagales, noting the city’s intention to build more affordable housing.
How can we create more housing given water shortages and greenhouse gas emissions? How does more housing reduce emissions?
Join your fellow residents for part three of a four-part webinar and discussion series to learn about housing issues in San Mateo County. Each San Mateo County community is currently updating its Housing Element – a housing plan that is part of every jurisdiction’s General Plan – and we can use your informed input. This series on Creating a More Affordable Future will help you learn more about the problem and possible solutions for our communities.
